News for the McCain/Palin campaign: the SNL skit was satire and parody. They have and will do similar satire and parody of Barack Obama. I'm waiting to see if the McCain campaign will show the same outrage about those skits - calling them racist. I'm not holding my breath.

Off topic but you should know this.

What about arresting Bush, Cheney and all the religious right wing neo cons who have been stealing our tax dollars to build a private army of dangerous mercenaries !!

Read on... this is where your tax dollars are going, this is why the american people get nothing !!

Meet BLACKWATER USA, the world's most secretive and powerful mercenary firm. Based in the wilderness of North Carolina, it is the fastest growing private army on the planet with forces capable of carrying out regime change throughout the world. Blackwater protects the top US officials in Iraq and yet the world knows almost nothing about the firm's quasi-military operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and inside the United States. Blackwater was founded by an extreme right-wing fundamentalist Christian mega-millionaire ex-Navy SEAL named Erik Prince, the scion of a wealthy conservative family that bankrolls far-right-wing causes.

This is the dark story of the rise of a powerful mercenary army, ranging from the blood-soaked streets of Fallujah to rooftop firefights in Najaf to the hurricane-ravaged US gulf to the chambers of power in Washington DC, where Blackwater executives are hailed as new heroes in the war on terror. This is an extraordinary expose by one of America's most exciting young radical journalists.

Read Scahill on Blackwater in The Nation:

Mercenary Jackpot: US Pays Blackwater $320 Million in Secretive Global 'Security' Program

Blood Runs Thicker Than Blackwater

Blackwater's Private Spies

PRAISE

"Jeremy Scahill's exposé of the Blackwater mercenary firm forcefully demonstrates the grave dangers of outsourcing the government's monopoly on the use of force."

- Joseph Wilson, former U.S. Ambassador to Iraq

"If the Republicans lose in 2008, they will leave office armed and dangerous. Blackwater is the utterly gripping and explosive story of how the Bush Administration has spent hundreds of millions of public dollars building a parallel corporate army, an army so loyal to far right causes it constitutes nothing less than a Republican Guard. The most important and chilling book about the death throes of U.S. democracy you will read in years and a triumph of investigative reporting."

- Naomi Klein, author, No Logo and The Shock Doctrine

"Jeremy Scahill skillfully chronicles the birth of America's frightening Praetorian Guard, one that has been unleashed - 25,000-strong - in Iraq. These hired guns, with their black uniforms and automatic weapons, appeared on the streets of New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. They operate, at home and abroad, beyond the bounds of legal constraints and are controlled by secretive puppet masters, such as Erik Prince, who have close ties to the radical Christian Right. Should our nation enter a period of instability following another terrorist attack on American soil, an economic collapse or a series of environmental disasters the tyranny groups such as Blackwater impose on others could become the tyranny they impose on us. The rise of this unchecked mercenary force, as Scahill understands, could presage the final stage in the collapse of American democracy.

- Chris Hedges

"From Belgrade to Baghdad, from Nigeria to New Orleans, Jeremy Scahill leads a new generation of muckraking journalists. With trademark courage and conviction, Scahill is exposing the dark, violent and secretive world of the neo-mercenaries Washington is increasingly deploying in its wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and at home in the US. This is an explosive book!"

Yea satire like you're the president of the United States and you're sticking your Cohiba cigars into your page, while your wife and daughter just turn the other cheek. Just like that.

Disney studios announced today that they are planning a remake of Dumbo and contacted Sarah Palin to see if she was interested in voicing the part, after she loses the election. Sarah replied that since she couldn't see the Disney lot from her home in her Alaska she didn't think she had the experience for the role. When asked to comment, Senator John McCain was unavailable, as he was busy basking in the glow of the strong fundamentals of the American economy (I mean workers). Or was that basking in the glow of Sarah Palin's tanning bed? And this just in, Disney studios dropped plans for a remake of Dumbo in favor of remaking Pinnochio. Sources are reporting that Sarah Palin and John McCain are both up for the part of the world famous liar.

Caribou Barbie can make her snide mean-spirited jokes at the convention but yet no one is supposed to make jokes about her??? The only high point in this story is that Palin herself found the satire funny. Maybe she will now see what the rest of us see.

If imitation is the highest form of flattery, then Sarah Palin must feel honored.

The Alaska governor was laughing with the rest of America when "30 Rock" star Tina Fey returned to "Saturday Night Live" for the NBC show's season premiere where she portrayed the vice president hopeful.

Hmm the McCain camp is stupid.

Wow! McCain/Palin is now ahead of Obama/Biden in every national poll but one. USA/Today Gallup has them up by 4 points after the weekend! We white women are lovin' Sarah. So are black women in a closet poll where they didn't have to identify their skin color! When they get in the booth by themself--they are lovin' Palin too.

According to her spokesperson, the governor and the press corps watched the sketch in the back of her plane, laughing at Fey and Poehler's satirical take on the two politicians.

I define sexist as a person who thinks that it is okay to walk across a stage in a bikini, hoping to win a prize and money because they have a nice body.

THAT is sexist, and..um...I can only think of one candidate who actually did that...but I'm not naming names....

McCain picking her was sexist from the start..He knew she had no Qualifications other than to use her to get the women vote in America..He knew she could be buried by the media,..Hence reading from script and the obvious fumbling when confronted and now keeping her from the media. The Republican Party has made a joke of us for far too long..They are corrupt and nominate any fool to be the bearer of bad news..And the bad news is ..if you believe in them..you as the average American will be screwed and used, so that they can use their position to bolster companies they have stock in. Hello..Cheney...Lets look at the commercial Obama has out showing the paople McCain has in his hand..Lobbyists..Now, if you don't know what a lobbyist is, I suggest you learn. They are people only looking out for their own cause or business..McCain sees this as his path to wealth and fortune..NOT SERVING US..THE AMERICAN PUBLIC..Ask why the media doesn't attack palin like they would some Hollywood actor. LOL ..I'm no Hollywod actor, I'm the ordinary average American and for my tax dollars and I demand answers from those who's paychecks I am supporting. Stop being so weak America DEMAND YOUR MONEY'S WORTH. Your boss does, and you are their boss with your tax dollars paying their salary. Make them work like we have to..It is America ...and Majority rules...and the majority says...WE NEED A GOVERNMENT WHO WILL WORK...NOT TAKE VACATIONS ON OUR MONEY..WORK LIKE WE DO. WE TRUSTED YOU WITH OUR MONEY AND YOU FAILED.....TIME TO MOVE ON TO SOME REAL CHANGE..ENOUGH OF THIS REPUBLICAN CORRUPTION.

Just another way for the McCain camp to get the media to focus on stupid stuff, rather than the important issues that pertain to the American citizens. This constant blubbering and foot-stomping whining has proven that McCain/Palin haven't any substance, plans, or guts.

Voting for these two empty shells would be WORSE than having the Bush/Cheney doctrine for another four years (Sarah, do a Google search for a definition on that).

So Plain Palin found the skit amusing to watch, so said her advisers? And the McCain camp calls it sexist? So you want your cake and be able to eat it to McCain? You can't have half of your ticket enjoying something and you running off at the mouth complaining about it!!!

You and Palin are clearly out of touch with American and each other. I see your "bounce" has finally eroded and America may be waking up from the haze of Palin [puff puff].. America is wiser than you think McCain.. We can see past your lies, more lies, misinformation and oh yeah more lies. You think the "economy is sound", the people of America are sound, but not the economy.

You think Iraq and Pakistan share a common border. You think The Czech Republic has gone back to its former name, Czechoslovakia. You want to Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran and keep troops in Iraq for up to 100 years.. Can America afford McCain/Palin? HELL NO!!!

A thinking person can clearly see how this skit dismissed Governor Palin. But you are correct, it's just satire, that thinks poking fun at a thoughtful woman of charachter, who in addition to being lovely to look at, has leadership qualities that have propelled her to greatness, is somehow amusing. But it falls short, as it poked fun at values that much of the country admires and respects. SNL mocked us when it mocked her, and Senator Clinton, a woman who rode to her position on her husband's coattails rather than her own abilities, is held in higher regard by the liberal media. Yep, it was sexist, in addition to being simply poor. And maybe you think living in the backyard of Russia is a simple matter!

                    Palin is an empty skirt

There, I said it, damn it, so sue me if I'm not "politically correct".

I'm sick of the brain-dead couch potatoes that believe this hypocritical nonsense and vote like idiots, so that we informed and intelligent Americans get stuck in limbo watching our great nation get trashed and our paychecks shrink for another election cycle.

If the Repubs can't take what they've been dishing our over the past eight years, then, "get out of the kitchen"....Not you, Sarah, because that's where you belong!

Well, JK, I don't know if the kitchen is where Palin doesn't belong in as much as Washington. She is fooling herself and the American people. However most of us are not fooled, just distracted for a moment, while we look and laugh at her antics.

Hey, 'voice of reason' you go ahead and believe those polls of what 784 people or whatever but come election day John McAirhead and his shiny little sidekick are going down in defeat.

For all you women out there, don't you for one moment think that John Mc gives a rat's patoot about any of you. His pick of Sarah Palin should serve as an insult to all of you!!

The skit was funny, no matter what side you are on. As for the view, If Rosie O'donnell compliments you then you know you've done something wrong. It's like having an idiot tell you you're doing a good job. Watch out Barbara, she'll compliment you now and stab you in the back later.

I thought is was funny as well. I'm still confused on how Sen. McCain's camp think this is sexist. It was comparing 2 women in politics. One has strong opinions on issues, the other seems clueless.

BTW - Have anyone else saw the video of Sen. McCain appearing (yeah right) checking out Gov. Palin's backside? Was that not sexist? lol

I thought it was the funniest thing, I have seen or heard since George Bush Declared "Mission Accomplished" while standing on a boat.

Republicans need to get a sense of humor, they should start laughing at themselves and join everyone who is laughing at them. By allowing that loud mouth Carly Fiornia who screamed loud and long when let go by HP should just stop whining. That is all that woman ever does. I was on her side concerning HP, but as soon as she started whining and whimpering like a cry baby I understood maybe one reason HP severed ties with her. Shut up woman, you are just a big whiner.

Cindy McCain looks as though everyone she has ever interviewed with has picked her bones clean. She needs to stop taking those drugs and eat something. Picking your bones clean, give me a break, the women on The View asked the questions that every American wants to know, so we as Amercians asking questions of a potential President are picking their bones clean if we ask a questions or more specifically a question that is direct and to the point. To bad McCain can't answer that way.

This whole entire McCain campaign is a big joke, the funny thing is we are not laughing at it. We are all scared of it.

Yeah, I loved her comment about the View ladies picking their bones clean. Frankly, Joy did not go far enough when talking about the lies in McCain's ads. He just replies that the ads are true, and then nothing. She should have pointed out that saying Obama supports comprehensive sex ed for 5 year olds is a complete fabrication, that the bill he supported was to teach 5 year olds the dangers of of sexual predators, that it is not okay for someone to touch them inappropriately. And the parents would have the right to exclude their child from that education.

McCain cannot win on issues, so he has to rely on dishonest tactics to promote fear in the easily swayed.

The idea that the view is entertaining just shows the depth into which our culture (or lack thereof) has sunk. Rosie O'Donnell is one of the slutiest and crudest females on the planet. The sight of this person (not really a woman now is she) sickens me to the core. If you like this show I guess that shows how vapid you are too.

I'm not getting into the personal attacks about a woman's past issues. However, I found one thing telling in Marie's post not noted. She rips on the View and a few posts later says she's never watched the show. It reminds me of people who complain that Obama's economic plan will raise taxes for everyone or break America economically (like that's possible now). It is obvious they never even bothered to read his economic plan but they still find it OK to comment about it.

All the coffee swilling cafe philosophers out there, why don't you take a break from solving the worlds problems and visit Prevent Child Abuse America.org AND CHECK OUT THE ADVOCACY SECTION. You can easily contact your Senators and ask them to support legislation that hangs in the balance. Support the Education Begins At Home Act!! Shaken Baby Prevention Act.
Support SB 1738 Protect Our Children Act. Will actually give funding so police can find the child abusers and rapists, not just know they are out there, somewhere victimizing children. Tell your Senators to support this legislation before they break for yet another holiday.

McCain cannot win on the issues, as he has no plan at all. When asked how he is going to solve problems, he only talks about how he can find any amount of money "tomorrow" to solve everything. His only hope is to lie, lie, and then lie some more in hopes of spreading enough fear among the easily manipulated to win their votes.

It's no wonder that the people running the campaign for the man who doesn't even know how to send an email would be out of touch with reality! It's SNL, for cryin' out loud! There was nothing sexist about it. It was a PARODY! And it was a good one -- both Tina and Amy were outstanding, as always. As for Cindy...well, I won't even go there...suffice it to say that she makes Nancy Reagan look warm and fuzzy!

McCain used the email in his campaigns and was one of the first. The only reason he doesn't personally use it is that his war injuries won't allow that much movement of his forearms. Nice to make fun of a man who was tortured by America's enemies! You should be ashamed of yourself for perpetrating this myth. He has others handle the computer for him under his direction.

Marie... John McCain wasn't tortured, he was subjected to "Harsh Interrogation Techniques."

I'm sorry, but you can't have it both ways. Either he believes the law that he helped pass (in which interrogation is only torture if it causes death/organ failure), in which case what's good for the American goose is good for the Vietnamese gander, ie, he wasn't tortured, or his caving in on torture was a cynical political copout, which means the "maverick" stuff is nonsense.

He doesn't manage it himself for the reason I stated above. Since he has others to do it for him under his direction of course he is computer illiterate. None of learn the machinations for things which we cannot do or will not be doing as staff will be doing the work.

I barely navigate powerpoint as I have a staffer do it. Doesn't mean I can't--just not a point.

Call me names if you wish, but check out my facts before you rule out the possibility I am correct--which I am by the way.

Puh-leez! McCain was villified by many in the primaries for saying Guantanamo should be closed and no one should ever by subjected to torture! Don't believe me? Google it and you will learn!

Uh Marie, have you ever watched one of his speeches? Do you watch how he uses his arms at the podium? He constantly uses them in the same manner a person types on a keyboard. He says he can't raise his arms above his shoulders, so that should not hinder him from typing on a keyboard. Hate to inform you, a lot of people who don't have use of their arms use the computer. There is all sorts of equipment out there on the market for those with disabilities. Under his direction? The man has stated more than once he knows nothing about computers, or how they work. Just how does he give directions? Give it a rest.

There is a significant amount of drift on this blog. This is not about whether the good Senator is capable of typing on a computer keyboard or not. This is not about whether or not he was tortured or simply subjected to "Harsh Interrogation Techniques". This blog is about the McCain Campaign calling a comedy skit sexist. Which is of course simply hogwash.

However, known of us will ever truly know what the limits to our tolerances are if the most stressful experience in our lives is simply trying to come up with a pithy statement to rebuke someone on the Internet.

The time for adult behavior is now. Treat others as you would like to be treated is a pretty good idea. If you have not been in harms way you have no idea what it is like. I also think you have no right to judge those that have been there. For a significant number of reasons, I will not be voting for Senator McCain, yet I will never reduce his service to this nation in uniform to an aberration.

Ummm, Marie, I think you need to check your facts. If he is unable to type as you state, he can have a program installed on his computer that will allow voice recognition. McCain has said he doesn't know anything about that dinosaur on his desk. Wow, that's the man I want to have control of my country. Why don't you state facts or just hush?

The press seems to vilify a woman that runs in the upper political arena, as "hated" Clinton vs Honest Obama. Now Sarah Palin is the target. I am amazed that Clinton and Palin were so trashed by The New York Times & Washington Post and others, yet Obama which is a political newcomer and almost nothing but sweet talk and imagination to fuel his political hopes, got a free pass. The voters and citizens of America are smarter than these media giants suspect. Many will not buy in on this biased reporting, and many more know that political speeches are for amusement only and seldom are remembered after election day. People must remember that the problems of today were created many years ago, and most recently by Bill Clinton & Phil Gramm, one from each party-when they allowed big business to have their way with the American marketplace, at the expense of the middle class. The bigger is better has crippled America, and I doubt either party can easily correct the mess-caused by both Republicans and Democrats, but for a breath of fresh air-I like Sarah Palin-and will now vote Republican because of her outspoken manner-Experience will show you that one of the most overrated things in the world is experience! Some one that does the same thing (even though it is wrong) for 20 years-does that give them 20 years of experience or one year experience repeated 20 times. The old certainly has not worked-let's try something different-PALIN is the difference.

For her difference, for her experience? He, not America, needs her to keep the spotlight off of himself. He is pimping her. He is a PIMP. And, what exactly does that make her?

This SNL parody is not sexist. I think that the McCain campaign needs to examine what the term "sexist" actually means. What I find sexist is putting a female on the ticket to get the "women votes," like women are too stupid to actually care about policies and political issues. I don't plan to vote for someone just because she also happens to have a uterus.

The McCain camp is truly starting to look like a bunch of cry babies. I mean, come on, it's a freakin comedy show! Who doesn't get that? SNL makes fun of everyone, they made fun of Clinton (both the old president and the one that just ran for it), they made fun of bush (both), reagan. This isn't an issue of sexism, it's an issue of what's going to make people laugh.

Oh my dear! Many women are sexist--like the bitter beer faced liberals that can't stand Sarah Palin because she has succeeded without subsidized day care. Like the bitter beer faced grievance sisters who hate Palin because she and her husband share the work load and love and laughter with their not so perfect family. Like the bitter beer faced liberal women who hate Sarah because she chose life for her little Trig rather than have an abortion--which if it failed and Trig had been born alive--Obama would have left him in a dark room to die of starvation when he voted in full knowledge that is what his vote meant when he refused to vote for the born alive act in Illinois.

Sarah Palin is like most of us. A principaled woman who also happens to be so smart and effective in office in Alaska that she is re-elected time and again by HUGE margins. All you small bitter women who cling to your abortion rights and your g'vment checks get a grip. The rest of us that manage our own lives without taking money or support from the government (ie taxpayers) and don't have constant grievances that life ain't fair will be voting in droves for Palin! Just gotta love Sarah!

Wow marie thompson. Don't even know where to start with you. You unfortunately must be so blinded by this "sweet, principled Sarah woman." Have you EVER researched what Sarah-dear stands for? Abolish abortion even in cases of rape or incest. Can you imagine the heartbreak of these women that would have to carry this child to term? Back alley abortion procedures would rise, risking the life of our daughters. Suicides would increase, so would child abuse + child abandonment. The law could force a woman to not get an abortion, but you cannot force them to love their child.
You bashed Obama regarding Trig. Nice try there. "Sweet, little moose-killiing, aerial hunting supporter of endangered species + denier of human caused global warming (which puts all species at risk). Sarah" doesn't have the same "ailments" as most women. Little dear Ms Caribou has a great healthcare plan + probably plenty of nannies + $$ to take care of this poor boy, especially should she become the VP. She wouldn't have the time to care for this child. So please take a closer look. Palin has very little in common with the majority of American women.

Maybe you should use 'the google', Marie, and find an insult more prevalent in current vernacular. Start with 'fugly' and page forward in history. Oh, and tell your friends the 'commie' and 'pinko' labels are trite, too. I realize you guys like living in the 50's, but can you talk like you're alive in 2008?

And to clarify. I personally hope the time will come soon when there is no need for abortions any longer. Every child should be a wanted child + I like that Obama wants to work toward minimalizing unwanted pregnancies.
No one, no matter if you are pro-choice or pro-life can argue with that. That's the compromise we need.

By 'slut' I think Marie meant 'lesbian'. Good Republican women, mired in the 50's, don't use that word, though. They still deny that homosexuality isn't a choice. Rosie is making a choice to be a slut in Marie's tiny mind.

Kriblet, the good news is that as of today, it appears that Palin's favorable numbers are falling fast - a 10 point swing just over the weekend! I'm betting that after this week, the polls will reflect movement towards Obama-Biden and away from Palin-McCain.

And it's definitely Palin - McCain. Without the Palin pick, McCain would be running with flat tires these last two weeks.

What get's me is if McCain chose a stray dog as his VP pick, Republicans would be cheering that stray dog in every alley in every city of America.

If Sarah's numbers dropped (some polls are junk--just trying to stop the Palin avalanche of women--and men voters for her) it didn't hurt the McCain/Palin ticket. Right now the McC/Palin ticket is ahead in the composite of all major polls and really ahead by more than a point or two when the USA Today Gallup poll of most likely voters is considered.

McCain/Palin is resonating with real men and women everywhere who don't want to vote for someone with so many sleazy pals and terrorist buddies as are coming out of the closet more and more daily with Obama.

I'm so glad you're voting Republican. It would make me completely sick to my stomach to now that I am voting on the same side as somebody as bitter and horrible as you. If you even exist - I suspect you're just a 14 year old Internet troll with nothing better to do...no adult could be that misguided and uninformed.

As much as I would hate to see that for so many different reasons, YOU + all the others will sit in the same boat + have to deal with the consequences. Should this "ship" go under, all of us will be on board. So don't gloat when the election results come in, but wait a few years to see if you voted for the right candidate.

Sincere examples of the straight talk express.

This article about SNL has the McCain camp crying sexism, another article talks about Palin laughing at the skit.

Sad fact is it matches everything else they do; McCain first said yesterday that the economy is basically sound, later that same day his camp sends out a release saying we're in a crisis.

One would think with the number of advisors they have they could keep their stories straight. Or, just maybe Palin spoke to reporters about the parody without permission from her handlers...

Marie, your unbridled confidence in GOP polling shows what a rank amateur you are in politics. McCain pulled the rabbit out of his hat for the GOP convention, put an unqualified candidate on the ballot with him (who by the way was not available for DEM comment during the DNC), and then has been shielding her from scrutiny for two weeks now. When the public and the media get tired of her fake "girl next door" routine, they will realize there is nothing there but an empty suit, just like Kato Kaelin from the OJ trials, he lasted all of about two weeks.

The GOP numbers have nowhere to go but down, they have no more rabbits to pull out of their arses...

Hey Marie, keep up. Poll numbers, as reported by Newsweek, for Sarah Palin have dropped dramatically and will continue to drop as her true self is revealed. Since 9/13/2008, her unfavorable has climbed from 30% to 36%, and her favorables have dropped from 52% to 48%. In a three day period she had a net loss of 10 points, and is tied for the smallest favorability split of any of the 4 candidates. Why do you think the McCain camp is keeping her from doing interviews. Then the American people will get to know her too well and might not vote for her. They aren't allowing her to talk to the media, do any town hall meetings where she might have to speak "off the cuff." Open your eyes and do the research. The team put together to "coach" her all are former Bush administration people. Her speeches are being written by Matt Scully, a former Bush White House speechwriter, she is being counseled by Bush's former lawyer for the Bush 2000 campaign Mark Wallace. She is being trained for the debate with Biden by Mark Wallace also. Wallace's wife is working with Palin and she was a former White House communications director. Steve Schmidt, former counselor and spokesman for Cheney, who also ran Bush's re-election campaign is helping. I could go on, but you get the point. With McCain/Palin we will get more of the same!!! McCain/Palin don't deserve to win because he is evil and will do anything to win, including deceiving the American People and treating us like idiots.

Go to newsweek, you'll find this:

But then a funny thing happened: Palin seems to have lost some of her luster. Since Sept. 13, Palin's unfavorables have climbed from 30 percent to 36 percent. Meanwhile, her favorables have slipped from 52 percent to 48 percent. That's a three-day net swing of -10 points, and it leaves her in the Sept. 15 Diageo/Hotline tracking poll tied for the smallest favorability split (+12)** of any of the Final Four. Over the course of a single weekend, in other words, Palin went from being the most popular White House hopeful to the least.

                                  And here's why:

                                  Alaska AG rejects Palin subpoenas
And five Alaska lawmakers file suit to end 'Troopergate' probe
                                  The Associated Press
                                  updated 8:21 p.m. PT, Tues., Sept. 16, 2008

JUNEAU, Alaska - Alaska's investigation into whether Gov. Sarah Palin abused her power, a potentially damaging distraction for John McCain's presidential campaign, ran into intensified resistance Tuesday when the attorney general said state employees would refuse to honor subpoenas in the case.

In a letter to state Sen. Hollis French, the Democrat overseeing the investigation, Republican Attorney General Talis Colberg asked that the subpoenas be withdrawn. He also said the employees would refuse to appear unless either the full state Senate or the entire Legislature votes to compel their testimony.

Colberg, who was appointed by Palin, said the employees are caught between their respect for the Legislature and their loyalty to the governor, who initially agreed to cooperate with the inquiry but has increasingly opposed it since McCain chose her as his running mate.

Personally I don't care for either candidate. That said popular polls don't mean anything really. The election is going to be decided by electoral points not popular vote. Our system doesn't work on popular vote since we have the Electoral College. Unfortunately what that means is any numbers gathered from popular polls are pretty much just fluff to grab some headlines here and there leading up to the election.

Good point. However, I'll point out that republicans continue to talk about Clinton not winning the popular vote, while at the same time saying the popular vote is of little importance when discussing the bush election. Seems to me they simply want to have it both ways.

Current electoral map polls show Obama in the lead.

McC's are doing just fine. Cindy is an amazing lady who does charity work in person, not just with her check book, all over the world. It is unfortunate her drug addiction is seen like the street drug user who took the first dose to get high. Like many, she became addicted after surgery and just couldn't get off of those pills. I have friends who are sober and sane who have had the same problem. Addiction is a horrible thing and to think anyone would voluntarily enter into it boggles my brain.

Yeah, we have had other first ladies and wanna-be's who were hooked on their drugs too. I won't name names, you all know who they are.

Oh it's not the addiction. It's a rich woman stealing drugs to feed the addiction that's the problem. It's the people who say drug addicts are 'weak' and 'a burden to society' and spend countless millions on an ineffectual 'war on drugs' and then get hooked and steal drugs or go to multiple doctors for multiple prescriptions.

I'm glad McCain stuck by the second wife who had surgery, though. It would have looked pretty bad to have dumped two of them.

voice, I didn' see where destiny said anyone decided to get hooked on drugs; however marie made her point. We as a people are suppose to feel sympathy for a lady with the means circumventing our justice system while despising poorer person without such means. It brings to mind a commercial with two bodies in a morgue; one dead by street drugs the other by prescription. Both are tragic.

If the UN wasn't such a pathetic joke there would be no need for Blackwater and KBR. Stand around and do nothing while people are killed in front of their eyes. Oh and i'm not stupid enough to think that M/P will make a lot of changes but neither will Obama. They are all a bunch of liars and theives.

When I was young enough to enlist I was so blinded by left-wing propoganda that I though soldiers were 'baby killers' and stupid ass stuff like that. That multi-culturalism was a good thing and lead to a unified enlightened society. What a bunch of crap!

Great news for you. The United States Army is now accepting recruits up to the age of 42, even though the actual age limit is 44 for non-prior service enlistees. So now you can take your 40 year old behind down to the recruiting station and sign on up. You have displayed the proper attitude by wishing to "slit the first MFer that crosses my border to mess with my country". I do believe I copied your words correctly.

So, now the media decides who you vote for? I know this is your first time, but this isn't the high school popularity contest where you hate someone just cause they are liked.
The country is too important for simple reasoning.....

The media previously loved Mccain, does that disqualify him in your mind also?

Here's some of the issues I'd like to bring up with the media, who you claim love Obama, yet the constantly give Mccain a "get out of a stupid comment" pass.

                                      I'm confused.
                                      * If you grow up in Hawaii , raised by your grandparents, you're 'exotic, different.'
                                      * Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers: a quintessential American story.
                                      * If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
                                      * Name your kids Willow , Trig, and Track: you're a maverick.
                                      * Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.
                                      * Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating: you're well grounded.
*If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs,Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.
                                      * If your total resume is: local weather girl (sports caster), 4 years on the city council and6 years as the mayor of a town with fewer than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive.
                                      * If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian.
*If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian.
                                      * If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.
                                      * If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you're very responsible.
*If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America 's.
                                      * If you're husband is nicknamed 'First Dude', with at least one DUI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA , your family is extremely admirable.

Maybe the UN stands around while people die, but Blackwater and KBR actually kill them. Blackwater massacres innocent Iraqis and KBR electrocutes our soldiers in the showers. So if you want to make sure that people die, stick with Blackwater, KBR and McCain.

Thankfully, this superficial "stepford candidate" is finally being seen for who / what she really is. She clearly does not have the intellectual ability or strength of character to possibly lead the world's greatest nation - but then again, neither does the current President (and look where we are). I can't wait for the debates!

I was an all out supporter of Hillary. . . although I'm a teacher, I put my money where my mouth is and sent overall, the allowed amount of $2500. I also put my mouth where heart was and phoned for Hillary before each state's primary and talked her up every chance I got. When we "lost" it hurt but I moved on promising myself I'd live to fight for her another day.

I see the ugliness continues. . . now instead of Hillary and the President himself being slammed it's another woman. . . also known by her first name Sarah. Well it's time for me to move to kinder and yes, more sophisticated people. I happily leave behind the far left and mean spirited "Neo-Democrats".

                                          Good bye.

By what you say you have an extreme gender bias and have no true opinions of politics other than if the candidate has like physical appearance as yourself, (that means you only care if the candidate is a woman such as you are). And that would be the sign of a person that thinks with their emotions instead of their head. And then I would label you as an uniformed voter, of the worst kind. Me I don't care, I do not support either candidate and I would never be foolish (sorry I really meant to say stupid) enough to give any candidate $2500. There are plenty of deserving charities could have put that money to better use.

And if she were the P or the VP candidate, the media would place their microphones in front of Bill not Hill.

Were you for Hillary, prof, just because she was a woman, or because she was a woman who stood for certain views and issues? Similarly, take a good hard look at the woman you are switching to; is it just because you are bitter and it is another woman? Because Sarah and Hillary share relatively nothing else in common besides thier sex and determination.

We are tired of being called by our first names when men are called Mr. and of all the other put downs we have received--one of the biggest was Obama's mistake in not picking Hillary for VEEP!

Sure the skit was alittle bit sexist, for both Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin. But that is what satire is. It goes to point out a different problem with America...When did we become such a namby pamby pussy whipped country....ooooooooo.... they made fun of me on the TV last night. What is going to happen if you get elected and the big three (Jay, Dave and Jimmy) nail you to the cross every night during there monologue, like they do our current moron in charge, Bush or his predeccesor before him ( the joke was Bush is dumb and Clinton fooled around and yet maybe there is a little truth in their satires). Like Amy Poehler says you better grow a pair if your going to be in the public arena. Because if you haven't figured it out yet all is fair game from your mama to your children. Only the public can say when to say when....and the public never does, they can't get enough of it. Live with it.

They do this stuff all the time, and by the way they made fun of both Hillary and Palin. To attack SNL for trying to make Americans laugh is simply stupid.

I am not voting for Obama purely because he is not the best choice. McCain/Palin have you guys on the run and your reply shows how insecure you are.

Actually, if you look at the fact that McCain keeps changing his position (the latest of which is that he now wants MORE government regulation), he's trying to block the investigation into troopergate, and he's pulled the plug on Fiorina speaking to the media, it looks much more like McCain is on the run to most people.

If you want to know someone, just look at the friends he keeps. Bad company also corrupts good conduct. So, if you really are interested in truth, let me here some real discussion on these topics.

I am voting for Obama, he was not my first choice. I would have voted for the John McCain of 2000 but not this one. I hate to say this but I do think we need a party change in the white House and after the Last 8 years and watching Mr. McCain.......Lie, pander, whine, sneer, smear and say the words "I was a POW" and "I'm a Maverick" 967 times a day,I thought he was bad....but when he chose Sarah Palin over Mitt Romney,I decided I'd vote for anybody but him. So I do believe I am voting more against McCain than FOR Obama. Senator Clinton and Senator Chris Dodd were my ticket but that didn't happen.

Obama in fact is pandering to the middle class and has something different to say, depending on the audience he is addressing. At one time, a short season, I thought possibly Obama was really different. I found that he is a politician through and through. Not different, the same! Definitely not what I believe will be good for this country.

I do not like them in charge of my country, be it the usa or Luxembourg. If the McCain camp would like Gov. Palin to debate Hilary for real... bring it on... I would think they would prefer the SNL skit.

Or perhaps Carly Fiorina would like to debate Hilary on the issues. She says none of these candidates could run Hewlett Packard. What was she doing while there by the way, typing pink slips on an IBM Selectric. Apparently she did not know how to run the company either and does not recognize comedy when she sees it. And I see she is looking for work again...How do you get fired from the McCain-Palin campaign????? Did she speak the truth perhaps? Naaaaah
